Broken Chains

Minna von Bergen always knew what she would be: a demon-assassin. A soldier trained to perfection from childhood to bring glory and safety to the war-ravaged Alpine Union. When the vile terrorist group responsible for her father’s death threatens to upend stability in her country, Minna undertakes an unauthorised mission to the Alps alongside her snarky demon, Morax, and a classmate of questionable character, Aaron. If she can prove her merit to the Union by taking out the terrorists, maybe she can earn the right to follow her dream of becoming an agent for the Union instead of an assassin.

Captured at last, Minna realises the terrorists are not the villains the history books made them out to be. Confronted with the truth about her father’s death and the demons, Minna gets what she’s longed for her entire life: choice. She never imagined her first one would be between upholding the status quo and upending it, which could start a new war and risk the lives of millions.
